By Taxi:
For taxis, there is a “Flat Fare” cost of $45 (plus tolls and tip) for trips to or from JFK Airport and the first destination in Manhattan. Depending on traffic and time of day, the ride is about 45-60 minutes. There is no set fare to or from JFK to any point in the other boroughs and the metered rate applies.

By Shuttle Bus:
New York Airport Service Express Bus, Tel. (718) 875 8200, departs to Grand Central Terminal (at Vanderbilt Ave. and 42nd Streets) in the Midtown Manhattan/East Side area and Penn Station (Eighth Avenue and 31st Street) in the Midtown Manhattan/West Side area every 30 minutes from 6:15 am to 11:00 pm. One-way fare is $15 per passenger and the ride takes about 45 minutes, depending on traffic and time of day.

Airlink New York, Tel. (877) 599 8200, runs shuttles from JFK Airport to any point in Manhattan between 23rd and 63rd Streets day and night. One-way fare is $17 per passenger.

SuperShuttle Manhattan, Tel. (800) 258 3826, offers a shared mini-bus that takes passengers to any point in Manhattan below 227th Street at any time, day and night. The one-way fare range is $19, with discounts for additional passengers.

By Public Transportation:
Public transportation by subway from JFK to Manhattan is available for $7. All terminals at JFK Airport are served by AirTrain, which runs 24 hours, seven days a week, every few minutes and connects the terminals free of charge. The AirTrain also stops at the Howard Beach/JFK Airport subway station for the A train to Manhattan and the Jamaica/Sutphin Blvd subway station for the E, J, and Z trains to Manhattan. In order to exit the AirTrain system at Howard Beach and Jamaica Stations for connection to the subway trains, a MetroCard is needed. MetroCard vending machines are available at these two stops for payment in cash or with credit cards. The MetroCard charge is $5 to exit the AirTrain station and an additional $2 to enter the subway system.
