Research and Clinical Interests
My clinical interests have increasingly focused on systemic lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis. In the laboratory we seek to understand the molecular basis of immune recognition by antibodies, and how disease-associated antibodies interact with the many components of the body to cause injury and organ damage. Recent studies have highlighted the importance of a class of natural antibodies, which are present from early development, which can block inflammatory responses and contribute to the maintenance of homeostasis.
