Research and Clinical Interests

My laboratory is interested in how Mycobacterium tuberculosis evades eradication by the host. M.tb targets conserved molecules to survive within macrophages, cells that normally eradicate bacteria. Using RNAi, we employ genome-wide, high throughput strategies to identify host factors that influence the outcome of infection in model systems and mammalian macrophages. Our goal is to characterize how these factors intersect bacterial virulence strategies and impact the outcome of infection. Post-doctoral positions are available for highly motivated individuals interested in mycobacterial pathogenesis and host pathogen interactions.
