Research and Clinical Interests
Dr. Mittal's research has focused on gynecologic pathology. Areas of interest include uterine, cervical, ovarian, and tubal carcinomas, uterine leiomyosarcoma, and placental pathology. Current work includes 1) Description and prognostic significance of an intermediate stage (Adenocarcinoma-in-situ) between complex atypical endometrial hyperplasia and endometrial adenocarcinoma. 2) Morphologic and genetic evidence for origin of uterine leiomyosarcomas from precursor benign looking lesions.
