Research and Clinical Interests

My clinical interests are in applying new technology in the clinical laboratories. This is of particular importance in the clinical microbiology lab where culturing microorganisms may require days to weeks. Newer molecular techniques allow for more rapid diagnosis and identification of drug resistance. Application of existing technologies, such as GC-MS to microbiologic specimens is leading to rapid identification with just a small amount of clinical material.
