Research and Clinical Interests

My interests are in the development and validation of methods for the detection and characterization of infectious agents. The laboratory uses the resources of Bellevue Hospital to provide a study base for novel and rapid methods for the diagnosis of difficult to detect microbes i.e. Mycobacterium tuberculosis and HIV. We have conducted clinical trials using Ligase Chain Reaction (LCX), the Mycobacteria Growth Indicator Tube (MGIT) and BACTEC 960TB systems, and rapid HIV assays.
