Research and Clinical Interests
Dr. Gorny is studying the humoral immune response against HIV-1 by generating human monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) that neutralize HIV-1 primary isolates. These mAbs are used to characterize viral antigens that may be used for vaccine development. He is also investigating immunoglobulin gene usage for anti-HIV-1 human mAbs and analyzing the correlation between preferentially used genes and mAb function, particularly with respect to their neutralizing activity.
