Research and Clinical Interests

We have identified the TBL1/TBLR1 family of regulatory proteins that interact with transcriptional repressors. They regulate the stability of their targets by controlling their susceptibility to ubiquitin mediated proteasomal degradation. The regulation of transcriptional activity plays a pivotal role in lineage specification and TBLR1 appears to play a critical role in this process. Recently we have shown that it also plays a role in tumor progression.
