The clinical programs of the Department of Pathology at NYU Langone Medical Center encompass diagnostic pathology services for Tisch Hospital, the NYU Clinical Cancer Center, Bellevue Hospital, the NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases, and the VA Hospital, as well as a number of services for affiliates of the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation (HHC), the public benefit corporation for the largest municipal hospital and health care system in the country. Offsite and outreach services for physicians’ practices in the larger New York metropolitan area are also available.
NYU Pathology faculty members offer their services through laboratories at Tisch Hospital, Bellevue Hospital, and Hospital for Joint Diseases. They provide expert medical and procedural services in a wide range of subspecialties, including autopsy, breast pathology, cytopathology, including fine needle aspiration biopsy (FNA), gastro-intestinal and liver pathology, hematopathology, molecular pathology, neuropathology, obstetric and gynecologic pathology, pediatric pathology, renal pathology, urologic pathology, and general surgical pathology. In clinical pathology we provide services in blood banking and laboratory medicine such as clinical chemistry, cytogenetics, hematology, and medical microbiology.
Our faculty group practice, NYU Pathology Associates, offers reliable, extensive, and efficient services for a wide number of tests in close consultation with referring physicians. NYU Pathology Associates offer premier cytopathology services and operate three FNA clinics, with one clinic located in the NYU Clinical Cancer Center and one at Bellevue Hospital. NYU cytopathologists process over 50,000 cases per year and also provide a number of second opinions for clinicians and patients who rely on their experience and expertise.
