Apply
Thirty positions are ACGME approved in the Anatomic Pathology/Clinical Pathology training program, but the actual number of positions filled is lower (usually 6 PGY 1 each year). Applications are due by December 15 of the year preceding appointment, but submission in early fall is recommended after which interviews are arranged. A completed application includes the Medical School Dean’s letter, three recent letters of recommendation, curriculum vitae, and a statement of purpose; applications are accepted only via the Electronic Residency Application System ERAS. The selection process takes place the latter part of December.
Graduates of foreign medical schools must hold a standard ECFMG certificate based on the USMLE examinations (parts I and II) and (in most cases) the Clinical Skills Assessment. Copies of test scores are requested. Foreign applicants generally need previous medical system experience, usually in research, in the United States prior to acceptance into the program; a majority of our residents enter with MD and PhD degrees, the latter from a US or Canadian institution, and/or with postdoctoral research experience here in the US or Canada. Publications in English-language journals are an important attribute of successful applicants.
Applications to our Pathology Residency Programs should be submitted by December 31st for appointments beginning July 1st of the following year. Only ERAS applications will be considered.
