Surgical Pathology Fellowship

Director: Jonathan Melamed, M.D. Associate Professor of Pathology / Prostate cancer, tissue banking, immunohistochemistry, quality assurance

Description: Three fellowships. The one-year fellowship is intended to provide an intensive experience in general diagnostic surgical pathology, along with opportunities for electives and subspecialty areas. The fellowship is based at Tisch (University) Hospital which accessions approximately 22,000 cases per year. The nature and variety of the case material is outstanding. New York University Medical Center is a quaternary/tertiary care medical center with an active Cancer Center. Fellows are involved in the grossing and sign-out of specimens, the performance and interpretation of frozen sections, presentation at conferences, and the teaching of residents and medical students. The opportunity for sign-out responsibility is available and special projects are encouraged.

Requirements: At least four years of AP/CP training or 3 years of AP training and must hold a NY State License.

Stipends: Commensurate with candidate’s level of training.
