OB-GYN Pathology Fellowship

Director: Khush Mittal, M.D. Associate Professor of Pathology / Ob-Gyn Pathology, Oncogenesis

Description: One fellowship. The one-year fellowship provides an intensive experience in gynecologic and obstetric surgical pathology, along with ample opportunities in clinico-pathologic research. The fellowship is based at the Bellevue Hospital which accessions over 10,000 cases per year. Cases are derived from NYU Cancer Institute, NYU Medical Center, Bellevue Hospital and its affiliated HHC hospitals such as the Gouverneur Hospital. The nature and variety of the case material is outstanding and vary from complex oncologic specimens to challenging cervical biopsies requiring in depth cytohistologic correlations. Fellows are involved in the grossing and signing out of specimens, the performance and interpretation of frozen sections, presentation at conferences, research and the teaching and supervision of residents and medical students. Research opportunities are ample; fellows are expected to participate in clinicopathologic research projects under faculty supervision.

Requirements: Completion of a three-year program in AP or a four-year program in AP/CP and must hold a NY State License.

Stipends: Commensurate with Candidate’s level of training.
